Mastered Learning
Math is difficult. And sometimes we don't quite understand a new topic or perform as expected on an assessment.
That's where a mastered learning approach can help. Grades are not necessarily finalized just because you wrote a test!
If you did not meet expectations (i.e. Level 3 or ~75%) in a certain area of the course, you have the opportunity to come in and prove that you have learned or improved your understanding of that material.
Before this takes place you must show that you are ready by submitting:
ALL of the completed homework assignments from the appropriate unit.
Your corrected unit test - on separate paper.
FAQ
I did not finish all of the homework. Can I still do M-L?
No. If you did not do well on the test, it is likely because you did not complete the practice work. Homework must be complete before signing up for M-L.
I lost / threw out my test. What do I do?
If you do not have your test, grab the test questions from a classmate and answer them on a separate piece of paper. I use the corrected test in two ways. First, it shows me that you practiced and learned from your original assessment. Secondly, it guides me as to what type of material your know / don't know.
Why are there limited appointments available per day?
M-L involves one-on-one attention & questioning. It is difficult to complete this with more than 2 or 3 students at a time.
Why does M-L end before the end of the semester?
The end of the semester is a hectic time for teachers and students alike. With only a few weeks before RSTs and Final Exams, you should be turning your time and attention to those final assessments.
Please include your name and which chapter you are planning to complete for M-L.
Don't forget to do all the homework, correct your test, and submit that prior to your appointment!
