Today's Classwork
We can know where we're headed unless we know where we came from! We will start with A Brief History of Computers (BHoC).
Listen to this incredible song about the history of computers (AI generated)
Take a walk down memory lane - A Brief Timeline of the history of computers
The details of this assignment will be presented in class but...
Students will be given historical figure(s) or invention(s) in the history of computing.
You will be assigned your research topic(s) randomly.
If you wish to trade with a classmate, you must both come to see me (on the first day).
If you wish to switch to a topic that was not assigned, you must come and see me (on the first day).
Students will research the topic(s) and learn their importance with regards to technology, advancements, and computer science.
Utilize a note-taking tool such as Google Keep, MS OneNote, Zotero, Trello, or similar to gather important information, media, URLs, and citations for your research
Students will utilize Google Slides and media as the background to our presentations. No other presentation tools are permitted - NO CANVA.
The basic slideshow is in our Hapara Workspace.
The first three slides give some instructions.
Feel free to delete the instruction slides and create your own slideshow the way you wish but you must work within the Google Slides presentation file from Hapara - no working outside of this file for creating your presentation.
If you wish to show media or external sources, link to them in your presentation file.
Useful Links (but do your own research as well!)
The rest of the entire Internet... (but verify your sources)
You will be informally presenting your topics throughout the semester, starting next week.
Details given in class.
Use of Artificial Intelligence
While current advancements in AI are incredible and can be extremely beneficial in your future, they do not provide the learning that occurs when you research and create on your own. Having an AI provide your content is like asking another human to do your assignment. Which is academic fraud.
